CICCA is an organisation comprising the world’s 17 leading cotton associations. Each member association acts independently some as an arbitral authority and in other ways too. Arbitration is a legal technique for the resolution of disputes outside the courts, wherein the parties to a dispute refer it to one or more persons such as (the "arbitrators", "arbiters" or "arbitral tribunal"), by whose decision (the "award") they agree to be bound.
CICCA provides a forum for joint discussion and collective action when appropriate. İzmir Mercantile Exchange has been a member of CICCA since 5th October 2000.
CICCA’s mission is to provide a more representative and influential organisation through which members are able to unite behind the principal of the sanctity of contracts and good trading practice. In so doing the Committee seeks to further develop its infrastructure to assist the Industry to prosper in an increasingly competitive and technological environment.
If an arbitration award is not fulfilled, then the party having an award in its favour should tell the association concerned. It may then be possible to circulate the name of the party as a defaulter, not only within the membership of that Association but also to all other CICCA Members. So far as is legally possible a CICCA Member Association will discipline any member firm that fails to comply with a proper arbitration award made by it or by any other CICCA Member. The Associations may also discipline those members who trade with companies on the default list.
